**"NASA's Extended Mission Poses Bone Loss Risk for Astronaut Sunita Williams Due to Starliner Issues"**

 * With the latest development, mission extension might mean serious health hazards for astronaut Sunita Williams Was NASA's original 9-day experiment for a record-breaking fourth shuttle mission.

Now nine weeks later and still running, its circuits were given extra air time to straighten out the initial trouble caused by a faulty Starliner spacecraft.

The Boeing Starliner was originally designed for short missions. NASA has had to solve a number of technical problems connected with it. This longer stay in space makes things tough for astronauts, let alone unhealthy. Bone loss in particular poses a real challenge--this has been well-documented among astronauts undertaking long periods of microgravity.

In space, bone loss results from there being no gravity on the astronaut's bones. As a result, over time the bones become more fragile and weaker, even though they have not yet become what an old person calls an osteoporotic fragile part of ornamental ware;the organ remaining in their live body which is lauded as' beautiful and soft'. Given how this affects their cockroach capabilities even after later, when they are placed under a load in Earth´s gravity. Killing an earthworm is an example. Williams' mission difference is one of degree. If she spends a longer period in microgravity conditions, her body will actually become--both then and there under dry zero gravity environment it is calcifying. This skin and tendon shell keeps the organs all in position, but since everything else is still solid rock it only causes further stress on internal organs -- leading to wear and tear.

NASA are considering several lines of treatment for these health dangers, including a strict regimen of exercise, dietary alterations, and so on. But the sudden mission extension will only put more pressure on such treatments to ensure the astronauts remain healthy.

Under NASA's Commercial Crew Program, the Boeing Starliner has suffered some delays during its development and testing phases. These delays are the price of doing business at this point, which again is a reminder that reliable spaceflight technology is not built in one day.

As they deal with the hitches of the Starliner, NASA and their colleagues are very carefully monitoring Williams' health. This underlines how technologies for spacecraft and astronaut health requirements need to keep pace.

Whereas the extension mission introduces many tests to be met, it is also a source of valuable scientific information. What is learned can be applied to future spatial methods and technology, and thus supplies some kind of guarantee for the safety and well-being of astronauts undertaking long missions; opening the way towards more ambitious other outer space targets.
